Mare Hilsta

Mare Hilstra is a poet and an artist. Her work originates in words, paintings and public poetry projects. She studied fine arts in education (2009 – 2013) and writing literature 2014-2018 in Amsterdam. One of her main interest is the scarcity of silence and where to find it. She believes silence shelters hidden languages with the power to heal. Mare was the first ‘Island Poet’ of the Isle of Texel.

Fyra Vindar, is an art and poetry exhibition in a big house (from 1840) in Loshult that used to be known as ‘fyra’ (it was the fourth house that was built in the village). There will be four series of ‘poetry paintings’ : Norr, Öster, Söder, Väst. The artworks are inspired by the silent stories of the four winds focused on old spaces, nature, memories and learning new languages (English and Swedish) being a Dutch poet.
