Lesley Kelly Ullrich
Älmhults konstrunda 2019
All over Africa, geometric shapes and symbols are used as a kind of code; a way of sharing an identity or a story. A tribute to this ancient form of communication, Lesley Kelly Ullrich’s “Mettlemirrors” are individually crafted by hand at her home studio in Johannesburg, South Africa. The frames are made from wood adorned with recycled aluminium patterns and embellished with coloured metal detail. No two are completely alike, giving each of the mirrors – just like the people of Africa – their very own signature.
Mettlemirrors are represented in Sweden by Alexandra du Plessis & Sebastian Kelly.
